Dear Friends at home. I suppose you begin to think it about time to
here from me should have written before but I thought you would want me
to tell how I liked a Soldiers life so I thought I would wate a few
days and see. well I like it well so far.

I found the Appleton Boys well as could be expected Saturday I went
home with Philip Pomd and staid untill Munday.

I went to church with them Sunday Willard is sick with the fever
it has turned and he is getting better None of the 60mpany have received
their Unaforms or equipments yet and we dont know when we shall. I can—
not find anything about when we shall leave I suppose nobody knows.

Captain Pomeroy arrived last nite the boys began to think it was

high time that he did. Each 60mpany has to do their own cooking our Com-

pany has to furnish two who have to cook two days at a time I am one of
the cooks today I got Mat Rogers to help wash the dishes this morning
while I write

Our bill of fare consists of meat potatoes beans bread coffee butter
and lasses which makes us fat rite up I sleep in a barn down town and
have a comfortable plase so do not barow any trouble about me at pre—
sent I wish you would send some of the latest papers to read I must
close and go and help get dinner so no more at present giVe my respects
to all enquireing friends and eSpeshaly to the Millainers
