- James L. Evans was a history student at the University of Kentucky in 1955.
- Scope and Content
- This is a microfilm copy of a paper entitled, "A Study of the Care of the Insane in Kentucky during the 1850's," written by James L. Evans, a history student at the University of Kentucky, in 1955. The paper, which was submitted in Professor Clement Eaton's History 315a class, discussed generally the care of mental patients prior to 1850. Evans specifically covered the operations of Eastern Lunatic Asylum in Lexington and Western Lunatic Asylum in Hopkinsville in the 1850's.
