Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- Robert Penn Warren was born in Guthrie, Kentucky in 1905. He was educated in public schools, graduated from Vanderbilt University and was a Rhodes Scholar. He was a professor of English and playwriting at several American universities. A writer of novels, plays and poetry, Warren received numerous awards, including Pulitzer prizes for both fiction and poetry. He was named Poet Laureate of the United States in 1986.

- This collection consists of nineteen letters and postcards written by Robert Penn Warren to his copy-editor at Random House, Bert(ha) Krantz. The letters include mention of professional matters, medical appointments, and family members.
