- Corporal Michael D. Gajda of the U.S Army Air Corps was stationed at various air force bases and bomb schools from 1942 to 1943. He trained at Bowman Field (Louisville, Kentucky), before being relocated to Lowry Field, and then Buckley Field in Denver, Colorado.
- Scope and Content
- The Michael D. Gajda U.S. Army/Air force notebook/diary contains notes on various military weapons and aircrafts as well as daily diary entries from October 1942 to March 1944. The notebook describes the construction, velocity, and operation of bombs and airplanes; the Browning M-2 machine gun; and the storage, use, and cleaning of guns and explosives. The notebook doubles as a diary; entries include remarks on the weather, daily routines and occurrences, physical training (PT), classroom training, and daily work. Additionally, the diary records letters sent from 1942 to 1943.
