- Physician. George Burroughs Spencer was a physician who practiced in Carlisle, Kentucky.
- Scope and Content
- Primarily comprised of a record of patients seen in George Spencer's medical office, this collection also includes correspondence and tax receipts. Spencer kept an accounts ledger (1918-1919) of the patients he received. The ledger sometimes includes the illnesses of the patient. Most of the correspondence concerns Spencer's service as a physician in the Volunteer Medical Service Corps in Mississippi during the influenza epidemic of 1918- 1919, although a letter (1912), from Ollie B. James, Congressman from Kentucky, concerning Spencer's application for a postmaster's appointment, is present as well. Carlisle city tax receipts (1913-1926) are also included.

The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
