- These letterbooks, an accounts journal and miscellaneous material relate to Kentucky distilleries and the production of whiskey. The letterbooks (1870-1874) are those of Robert Perry Pepper, the president of R. P. Pepper Distilleries and concern business and financial matters. An accounts ledger (1822-1823) kept by James McGillcuddy, documents the financial records of an early Kentucky distillery. Miscellaneous materials include numerous historical sketches of Kentucky distilleries, whiskey regulations, a lawsuit concerned with trademarks and proceedings to establish an exact meaning for the term "whiskey".

The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
