Historian. French married Keziah Calloway, daughter of Richard Calloway, at Boonesboro.
Scope and Content
This is a collection of photostats of documents relating to the history of Clark County, Ky, collected by James French. It includes indentures, land office warrants, depositions, bills of sale, and correspondence. The letters include one dated 1846 from an Independence, Missouri, resident which describes the movement westward of settlers. Later correspondence and papers are compilations of Clark County history by French and others.

The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.

Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
