- William Jones Chambliss (1923-2011) was a University of Kentucky history professor from 1959-1988. He was a specialist in East Asian history and Japanese. He was a descendent of the family represented in this collection, particularly Mildred Field Wood (1817-1865).

- The William Jones Chambliss collection on the Bagby-Rogers-Wood-Fishback family papers (dated 1978-1998; 0.23 cubic feet; 1 slim box) comprises research notes, family cemetery locations, and item-by-item descriptions by William Chambliss, Jr., of the Bagby-Rogers-Wood-Fishback family papers. The date range of the research notes is approximate and based on the dates that Chambliss donated the collections. Individual and family names represented include the Bagby family, Rogers family, and Wood family of Barren County, Kentucky, as well as John Bagby (1762-1834) and wife Matilda Bagby, William Byrd Rogers (1804-1884), and Walter Bagby (d. 1846). Arranged primarily in chronological order by birth dates of family members.
