- Biography / History
- Willie Snow Ethridge (1900-1982) was born in Georgia and studied journalism at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. She worked as a reporter and married Mark Ethridge, who was a writer and newspaper editor. They moved to Louisville, Kentucky, at the end of the 1920s, and she began writing books about travel, history, and biography. She would publish 15 books and later win the North Carolina Award for Literature before her death in 1982. After living in Louisville, the Ethridges moved to North Carolina. Willie Snow Ethridge was actively involved in the anti-lynching movement in the South and worked within the Association of Southern Women for the Prevention of Lynching.

Simpson (dated 1975-1982; 0.03 cubic feet; 1 folder) comprise 36 personal letters and cards from writer Willie Snow Ethridge that discuss her writing, family, health, home, and travels in the latter part of her life. Letters are arranged chronologically and the collection only contains letters from Ethridge.
