- The Crum family was originally from Oldham County, Kentucky. Gilbert Lafayette Crum and Mary E. Crum Dale's father was Jacob Crum; they had four other siblings. Gilbert Crum moved to California prior to 1870 to work as a farmer. Gilbert Crum is buried in Eminence, Kentucky.
- Scope and Content
- The Crum/Dale family papers (dated 1870-1909; 0.15 cubic feet; 1 box) consist of letters and a legal document document the family's relationship with Gilbert L. Crum, a relative in California. Gilbert Crum wrote the letters to his sister Mary E. Dale, his nephews, and his father Jacob Crum. The content of his letters describe his struggles as a farmer in California. The legal document is a 1902 copy of Jacob Crum's 1897 will.
