- Biography / History
- Central Kentucky families. Dr. R.C. Chenault was one-time superintendent of the Eastern Kentucky State Lunatic Asylum in Lexington (now Eastern State Hospital). Mary or Marietta Bowmar was Dr. Chenault's daughter. A.A. Bowmar was publisher of the Woodford SUN newspaper.

- This collection contains papers of the Chenault and Bowmar families of Central Kentucky. There are three account books of R.C. Chenault's medical practice; subscription books from the Woodford SUN; a ledger of a Versailles store; and a minute book of the Wednesday Club, a Versailles Literary society.
Special Collections Research Center - Closed
The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
