- Lyman Copeland Draper was a noted historian, author, and collector of manuscripts and materials related to the American pioneer era. He served as the corresponding secretary of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin from 1854-1886. Reuben Thomas Durrett of Louisville, Kentucky, was the founder of the Filson Club.
