- Young Ewing Allison was a journalist and one time member of the editorial staffs of the Evansville, Indiana Journal and of the Louisville, Kentucky, Commercial, Courier-Journal, and the Herald. Allison wrote widely on literary and artistic matters. He is particularly known for "The Men's Long", the pirate ballad associated with Robert Louis Stevenson's novel Treasure Island. Allison devoted the last three decades of his life to editorial responsibilities on the Insurance Field, a trade publication he founded in the late nineteenth century of which he was proprietor and editor.
- Scope and Content
- The Young E. Allison "Trappist Life" scrapbook (dated 1915-1916; 0.2 cubic feet; 1 item) consists of the newspaper article series "Trappist Life" by Young E. Allison, which ran in the Louisville Evening Post on December 21, 1915, and January 15, 1916. The scrapbook also includes postcards of the Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani in Trappist, Kentucky.
