Collection Overview
- Biography / History
- Physician, soldier, minister. Edward Owings Geurrant, a native of Mt. Sterling, Ky, graduated from the Belleville Hospital College in New York City. He served as John Hunt Morgan's adjutant general during the Civil War. After a "miraculous" recovery from a serious illness after the war, he became a minister and went to Appalachia to found missions, churches, schools, orphanages, and medical clinics. His son, Edward Putney Geurrant, founded the Guerrant Mission Clinic Hospital in the 1920's in memory of his father.

- This is a microfilm copy of an autograph book containing the signatures of Confederate soldiers imprisoned on Johnson's Island, and a Bible containing additional records on some of the soldiers.
Special Collections Research Center - Closed
The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
