- These are microfilm copies of the family papers of the Forsythe family, of Pikeville, Ky. The collection includes a large amount of correspondence between women in the Forsythe and Dills families. These letters largely concern family news, such as illnesses and the death of a baby. The collection also includes deeds, indentures, receipts and other miscellaneous materials, including an 1862 petition by soldiers in the 39th Kentucky Volunteers requesting that J.S.C. Taylor be named doctor for the company. There is also an account book for a general store, a federal court jury summons issued in 1877 to John Dills, and letters about the establishment of post offices and mail routes in Pike county in the 1840's and 1850's.

The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
Reproduction requests will still be available during the closure.
