- Biography / History
- The Ohio River flood of 1937 took place in late January and February 1937. With damage stretching from Pittsburgh to Cairo, Illinois, one million persons were left homeless, with 385 dead and property losses reaching $500 million. Federal and state resources were strained to aid recovery as the disaster occurred during the Great Depression and a few years after the Dust Bowl.

- Scope and Content
- The Ohio River Valley flood scrapbooks contains clippings on the 1937 floods of the Ohio, Kentucky, and Mississippi Rivers. One scrapbook, chiefly filled with clippings from the Courier-Journal, concentrates on the flood's ravages in Louisville. The other, which contains many articles from the Cincinnati Post, covers the disaster in Cincinnati, Memphis, and many other towns along the rivers in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

The Breckinridge Research Room will be closed starting May 11, 2026, and anticipates re-opening Fall semester 2026 in an alternate location for the duration of the King Library renovation.
