- Charles L. Yancey (1801-1867) was the son of Thomas Yancey and Sarah Mitchell Yancy of Culpeper County, Virginia. He was the executor of his father's estate. Thomas Yancy (1758-1826) was the son of Charles and Caroline Elizabeth Powers Yancey of Culpeper County, Virginia.

- Scope and Content
- The Charles Yancey cyphering book comprises Yancey's arithmetic lessons, including the mathematical rules and subsequent practices. The dates for this portion of the cyphering book are unknown, though it is likely that it was written in the early 1800s. The book also contains the records of the sale of Capt. Thomas Yancey's estate and property in Culpeper County, Virginia, detailing what was bought by whom, from 1826 to 1830.
